Rosado to face inquiry tomorrow.

It would appear Mr. Rosado has had a change of heart. His initial statements to the press that he would not attend Wednesday's meeting have suddenly changed. This afternoon, in a hastily called press conference, Mr. Rosado lashed out at his accusers. He claims a "personal vendetta".

Perhaps, the most curious aspect of this is the sudden change by Mr. Day in calling for the investigation. Mr. Day and Mr. Rosado have always appeared extremely supportive of one another, during Council Meetings. In calling for an investigation, Mr. Day is clearly changing that long standing position. It also calls into question the veracity of the 'personal vendetta'. Surely Mr. Rosado doesn't believe that Mr. Day has a sudden vendetta, after all of these months of support?

This turn of events shows Mr. Rosado's unwillingness to accept culpability. He feels that he is wrongly accused. He feels that people are out to get him for his 'leadership style'. While I can agree that I don't like his leadership style, I doubt that the catalyst of this situation has anything to do with his style. I believe that the facts will bear out that he broke charter. He seemed very free in his admission of it, during council meeting.

However, with all of that aside, I do believe the 'right thing to do' is going to be a full investigation, by an outside, independent agency. My statements on Wednesday during public input time will relay this opinion.

I am extremely dissappointed that Mr. Rosado chose this route. I am however, not surprised. The appropriate answer for someone who played loose with our rules of government would be to resign. Having failed that ethical test, Mr. Rosado will now face whatever consequences are in store for him.

As awful as what Mark Foley is alledged to have done, at least he did resign. Sure there are still questions, but I'm glad he is no longer representing the people. Of course, I'm not sure how many of those in office really do represent the public.

I totally agree with you cat...and here's a thought..

This is part of Rosado's statement to the press.

"It’s unfortunate when you’re targeted with “innuendoes” and unfounded allegations; creating an air of wild conclusions, without the benefit of the doubt at the minimum from my fellow council members. But this isn’t the first time I have I have been attacked in this matter and I don’t suppose it will be the last.
These personal attacks on my persona, family and personal business have been there ever since I was elected. A selected few members have become challenged by my leadership style and active role as a councilmember of the City of Cape Coral. However, I fear that it has become more than just a challenge to them, but that it has turned into a personal vendetta.

Furthermore, I know that when the truth is finally presented and that the people get to know me one on one, that I will be once again exonerated of all of the unfounded allegations and from the negative propaganda that the media has displayed about my character and professionalism. Unfortunately, the media here would rather try a matter solely on hearsay and innuendoes without first having all the facts. You are “guilty” before proven “innocent” fishing expeditions is what the media here is famous for and sells a lot of advertising for them."

He didn't mind the media when he was attacking everyone involved in the UEP did he???? With all the innuendos and propaganda leaked to the press before all the facts were known...guess it's different when the shoes are on his feet.
